Forest Fire Fighting
Aircraft have become an essential tool in the combat of wildfires. A key to effective use is real-time situational awareness and coordination of resources provided by automated flight following (AFF).
Latitude pioneered AFF back in 2001 and continues to be an innovator with the next generation Smart AFF.
Smart AFF goes beyond basic tracking with tools to assess the effectiveness of aerial resources. Smart AFF collects an array of data related to drop events and uses these as inputs to our Air Tanker Information System (ATIS) to provide real time key performance metrics. This allows incident commanders to effectively target appropriate resources and aircraft operators an opportunity to highlight their capabilities and cost effectiveness.
In the Field
Complete tracking and data telemetry in the industry’s smallest and lightest package. 2-way data access everywhere you operate.
World’s most versatile integrated aeronautical voice and data communications device. Interfaces to multiple mapping and data management systems.
SkyNode S100 and SkyNode S200 transceivers exceed automated flight following requirements mandated by US and Canadian forestry agencies.
Integrates seamlessly with existing aircraft systems to collect all types of airframe and payload delivery data for operator-configured real-time reporting.
All flight data can be forwarded to forestry agencies and field operation centres. Flight following and other flight data can be monitored in our Web Sentinel web-enabled flight data management system.
